The Next New Thing

I think the next new thing will be still related to the network, because the network can bring us many unbelievable things. Computers will become smaller and smaller. We can even wear them on our wrists just like wearing watches.In future, we may type our paper using our wrist computers. We may not have cellphones any more, because we can make phone calls from our wrist computers and also make video phone calls to see the other callers. We can do many things on the wrist computer, for example, GPS, browse webpages , texting, online shopping , pay bills, play games, video conferences etc. I believe the next new model of electronic devices or computers will be more thiner and portable. In addition, it will help us do many things just by clicking, tapping and pressing on the screens.Moreover, It will combine the purpose of decoration and functionality.

Our Class Wiki - So Far

I haven't started to do the Wiki Project. So far, I have thought about creating a page under the topic of food, because I am interested in enjoying delicious food. My wiki page will include the definition of food, since I know some people do not consider some food is "food". For example, some people eat worms. Do you consider worms are edible? In addition, it will include some special food from different cultures.  Also, I am thinking I may include some recipes for how to make some simple and easy food to enjoy, which may insert videos. Moreover, it may include the knowledge of food such as nutritive value and functions.

What is file sharing?
File sharing means free Internet access to audio, video, images, texts and documents.
What is P2P?
P2P means free online file sharing among peers from computers to computers.Each peer computer connects with the other peer computers.
What some examples of P2P file sharing?
G2 , BiTorrent, The Pirate Bay and Gnutella are P2P file sharing networks.The style of  P2P is popular. The article called Peers Find Less Pressure Borrowing From Each Other introduces a young woman easily got a loan from lending club which is operated like P2P. Investors invest money to the site, and borrowers can apply for a load from the sites.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Privacy & confidentiality are the important issues for the social media. Since now 90% or even more of us have social media accounts, many of us like to post words or pictures on social media. Every body can see what we posted. If we don't what someone know us or see our pictures, we'd better not post anything. When we think we only share with our friends, actually, our friends of friends can read our postings or see our pictures, too. However, we can also restrict the access to our postings.We can only let our family read or see our postings, or only our friends or only our classmates, but one thing we need to know that our family or our friends may get the postings and re-post them in their accounts. Therefore, I think there is no secret on line.

Advice to the College (using new media to improve the college)

First of all, I hope the college can provide free wifi in every corner at campus, since we now still can't access to the Internet in the outside of the buildings and sometimes even inside the buildings.In addition,I hope the college can use smart board and no more chalks and markers. I hope every professor can use multimedia to give their lessons. Moreover, I hope we can watch live classes instead of going to classes in person every time.Also, every professor's video lesson can be stored online. Then, students can go back to watch when they need it. Further, I hope the college can provide free e-textbooks for every student in every course, so students don't need to spend much money on the expensive paper textbooks.

I tried to play Second Life. I created an avatar who is a wizard. Her skin is purple and she has red eyes. Her outfit is black. She holds a wand. Both of her upper arms are invisible. Those make her mysterious. She is from outside planet.

I have read the article called Twitter Serves Up Ideas From Its Followers which states that "Companies big and small monitor Twitter to find out what their customers like and what they want changed". From that, I can see the reviews from customers are important for a company's development, so many companies try different methods to find out what customers like In order to create products that meet customers' needs and taste. In other words, the creativity of companies can come from customers. Therefore, companies use social media like twitter in order to reach customers and get their comments. In this way, it can attract many people's attention, get as many as responses, and spend less time. A company just need to post up a question on Twitter. People from all walks of life can read it and make a comment it.  The company get different ideas for consideration in order to create its products better and better. Thus, getting comments from customers is the effective way for companies to get ideas for making creativity.
